Letting Fear Rule My Life

For the longest time, I have been letting fear rule my life. It has ruled every single aspect it could of my life. From personal to professional. From marriage to parenting. When I say every single aspect, I mean EVERY. SINGLE. ASPECT. of my life. Fear has prevented me from being who I really want to be.

Today, I’m letting fear go. I need it to stop ruling my life because it is ruining my life. There is no more hiding, it is my time to shine. Today is the day I start living. Tomorrow is the day I start sharing my real life with the world. Tomorrow is Vlog day 1 (well technically today is day 1).

I don’t even know why I have let fear rule my life for so many years. I’ve never been one to let other’s opinions of me take that much of a hold on me to where I cannot push forward to pursue what I love in my life.

To be honest, I know that tomorrow I’m going to be fearful when I upload my first daily vlog because I know that there will be someone that will have something negative to say about how I do things with my family and my children. But I won’t let that fear stop me from uploading a video. I’m going to let that fear push me to do greater things with my talents, share my life with my friends, family, and the world.

Please bear with me as things on not only my blog but my vlog (YouTube Channel) change over the course of the next few days, weeks or even months as I get more confident in my ability to be in front of the camera, as my editing and vlogging skills grow. Be sure to subscribe to our channel to see all our new videos.

Things will change and I will grow. I just hope that others join me on this journey and see the value in our family that I see.

Doing Too Many Things At Once

Occasionally, I wonder why I’m constantly doing too many things at once. I just can’t seem to juggle it all at the same time and I wonder how many others feel this way. If you feel this way, please leave a comment below. I’d love to know I’m not alone in this!

You see my heart has so many loves; spending time with my children and husband, photography, blogging, learning new videography skills, cooking, baking, etc. It just seems like there is never enough time in a day to do all of these things.

But the real question is why am I doing too many things at once? Well, to be honest with my readers. It’s because I want to figure out a way to not only express myself but also help my husband support our family by any means possible, while still being able to hold down the fort while he travels for work. Childcare is extremely expensive and since I have spent 99% of my adult life raising children I “failed” to get a higher education. I will eventually go back to school and work when my children are all in school. But right now, my children need me here at home.

When I started this blog three years ago I had different plans. Because I constantly feel the need to help get our family out of our massive amount of debt so we can enjoy our lives with our children, that I keep forgetting to put my focus on my blogs/websites/YouTube channels. Now, after 3 years, I have decided to go in a different direction with certain things… Mostly life.

One day by stretching myself thin and doing too many things at once will pay off. In the meantime, I’ll just keep pushing forward and looking for the best in all situations of life.

My biggest goal for my blog here at Delancey Dream Home is to start earning at least a steady small income each month so I can start to dig out of our massive mountain of debt.

Leap Day

Today February, 29, 2016 is a leap day. This adds one more day to this wonderful year. Also adding one more day to our wait until our credit reports update. While a leap day is cool, it’s always something I forget about. I’d hate to be born in a leap year, your birthday only comes once every 4 years, lol.

So today on this leap day, I’m picking up a friend and we’re going out for coffee with my two little ones. But before I can go anywhere, I need finish eating, wait for Zachary and Ryleigh to eat their cereal, do the dishes, start the laundry (which is never ending), and vacuum the house. Have I said how much I hate chores. Honestly, the only chore that I hate doing is dishes. I am weird about the feeling you get when glass/ceramic items slide across my prune-like finger tips. It’s like nails on a chalkboard to me.

I really want to change the direction that my blog is going. I want to steer more towards posting things with more meaning. Only posting “personal” posts every once in a while.

My goal for my blog is to have a lot of different topics discussed like DIY, food related, fiance related, and fun stuff. My intent once we’ve moved into our dream home is to really start focusing on using my blog as a way to help support of family of 7. Obviously right now my blog has very few readers/viewers, but it does have a few. So over the next few months, I’ll be working on my SEO, figuring out the best writing style for my blog, and a few other things. It’s time I stop wasting time and start getting serious about not only this blog, but my other ones. Please know that I’m not blogging to only make money, as I really enjoy blogging. But this little bit of money that I am making and the money that I could be making can help my family purchase our dream home (or pay it off faster once we get it) and/or purchase a new family vehicle without financing it.

Seeking Companies for Paid Placement and Sponsorships

I started this blog in January 2015, in hopes of blogging and vlogging our way to home-ownership. While I’ve invested a lot of time and money into this… I’m not getting the results I want to see from what I’ve been doing. So I’m reaching out to more and more companies starting July 13th. I’ll be writing letters to home builders that have new properties in an area we would love to live, well-known companies that have been known to “sponsor” other regular people, etc.

When we vlog we can do paid placements (drinks, food, clothing, etc), paid blog posts, and even sponsorships.  Our goal is to purchase our first home as a family. Kevin and I are in desperate need of having our own home again. Our kids need their own space again, they need places to play, a place to do their homework during the school year, a place to eat their meals, and a place to just act like children. Kevin and I need a place to relax, prop our feet up and take it all in. We’re trying to enjoy our family, but in all honesty we don’t really have time to enjoy our children or each others company. We’re too busy stressing over the fact that we’ve over stayed our welcome, how we’re going to afford bills because we’re spending over $800 a month in groceries (that’s about $400 more than I’m used to spending). Over the last 11 months, I could have paid off at least three credit cards with the excess money I have spent on groceries since moving here. So it’s sad to see that our money is sort of getting wasted, especially since half the stuff I buy seems to disappear (the kids, Kevin, and I hardly ever get the things we specifically buy for our family of 7).

See we’re so stressed over silly little petty things that we could avoid if we had our own place to call home.

I’m really hoping that we can find some corporate sponsors, a home-builder looking for a Brand Ambassador. We could really use some good luck, right now.  So I’m going to keep on exhausting all my options until we get what we need as a family.

Join us by watching our weekly vlog (here). Once we get our home, we’ll be vlogging daily! So help us reach our goal of home-ownership, please!

Hot Cocoa & Early Morning Soccer

We’re up way to early for Summer break, but when your 3 year old and your 1 year old get up before the sun comes up, you get up with them. They’ve been changed, dressed, and fed. Now they’re both content playing and watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on DVR.

I’m sitting here with a nice warm cup of hot cocoa, watching Zachary (our 3 year old) kick his new soccer ball around the room. No matter how early he or Ryleigh wake me or Kevin up, we cherish every moment we get with them. Because these little moments won’t last forever and tomorrow is never promised.

Since it’s pretty quiet in the house, I thought I’d post a new blog. I know I’ve wrote one everyday for the last few days. But things have really been on my mind now that the kids are home for Summer Break. I’m also surfing the web, looking at furniture for our dream home. As much as I don’t want to buy new furniture, I know that our old furniture won’t fit in with a new home. It may be saved for the basement, so the kids can use it. If anything gets spilled on it, it won’t be a problem. But for the main portion of the house, I want to buy new couches/loveseats/chairs. I want to DIY a farmhouse style dining room table with benches on the long side instead of chairs. I’ll have to get Kevin a table saw, because we don’t have the space for one of those at the moment.

Once we get our dream home, we’re going to make the kids custom loft beds, with a couch, desk, and shelf-unit. So they have more space to move in their rooms. Plus they can have somewhere to sit when they watch T.V., somewhere to do homework, etc. Hopefully, we can find some corporate sponsors to help us reach our goal of home-ownership.

Well since it’s Summer break, I guess I should make a nice breakfast for the other kiddos. They only eat cereal and pop-tarts during the school week. So now I need to step my mommy-game up and make them something delicious in the mornings. Since I have some time before they get up, I think I’ll make some homemade cinnamon buns (Cinnabon Style) with cream cheese icing.

We hope everyone has a wonderful Monday. We’re going to try and make the best of the day.

As each day passes Kevin and I feel like we’re failures for not being able to purchase a home for our family. Our children don’t have the space they’re used to having, 90% of our items are in a storage unit in Maryland collecting dust while wasting money, and we’re just not happy with our living arrangements.

Life is too short to be unhappy all the time. Life is to short to not enjoy the little things in life. But the thing is… all the things we keep trying to do in order to give our kids a better life keep falling through. It’s beyond frustrating. I’d rather be posting updates about how awesome our new house is, or what new DIY project we’re doing, or what craft project the kids have done, or what we’re baking/cooking, etc. I know Kevin and I aren’t perfect and that we’re doing the best we can for our family, but it still hurts to feel like we’re failures.

I would never say that I feel like a failure in front of my kids, but I do feel like a failure. I should have used my time as a stay-at-home mother to further my education, to dedicate more time to saving money by clipping coupons or finding better deals on things I buy regularly. Or I feel like I should have found a job that I could do from home, or found a way to make money blogging sooner than I did. Some days I wish I was more “popular” online so I can earn money through YouTube and Blogging, or that I became well known for my photography skills. But at this point in my life, it’s obviously not meant to be like that. I have to find a way to earn money that isn’t illegal, but also isn’t as traditional as a regular job. I want to continue to be a stay-at-home mother as long as I can be because it’s what’s best for my children.

So in doing what’s best for my children, I’ve taken to social media to help my family. See I’m one of those people who love all things social media. Why? Because it allows me to express myself and to post creative things. It allows others to get to know me and allows me to meet people I wouldn’t meet every day. Social media has so much diversity in it’s users that it allows people to meet that normally wouldn’t cross paths.

I may not be the perfect journalist (my grammar and punctuation are lacking at times), but that shouldn’t stop me from blogging. People get better with practice. I’ve been blogging since Myspace and Xanga days.

I want to get out of this rut of feeling like a failure. I want to show my kids that they can do anything they set their little hearts and minds to doing. So Kevin and I will keep on pressing forward and doing whatever we can to get our family a home to call our own.

We’re hoping to find a Corporate Sponsor or a home builder to help us achieve our goal of home-ownership. We’re willing to work hard for what we want in life. I’m here to turn our failures into a big, bright future for our children.

We don’t want to feel like failures anymore.

Delancey Dream Home YouTube

Yesterday, I recorded the first video for Delancey Dream Home YouTube channel. Most of our videos will be embedded in a blog post here when they have been uploaded to our channel.

Below is the first of many videos to be embedded on this site.

Please check back often for new videos.

The reason I created the Delancey Dream Home YouTube channel is because this is how we will let others see who we are as a family. It will allow other people to subscribe/follow us and our journey in life. The only thing we need is a place to call home so we can record daily vlogs. We also plan on using the money we earn from us monetizing our videos to pay off our future home as soon as possible. As of right now, I plan on uploading as much as possible, but due to our living arrangements I am not really able to film daily family vlogs.

We look forward to showing you more of who we are as a family, the Delancey family.

No Positive Reviews

I’ve been looking up home builders for the last few days and all I’ve found as far as “reviews” go are negative reviews.

People telling others not to buy a house made by certain home builders because several homes in their communities have problems. Then there are people posting directly on the company’s social media accounts about issues that need to be dealt with (some petty things and some big things).

I’ve been trying to find positive posts about home builders in the area in which we want to live, but every single post that I’ve seen is negative. Sounds like some companies need some damage control done.

Well all companies are bound to have some unhappy customers. That’s where the Delancey family comes in… all we need is a builder to put us on Payroll so we can obtain a mortgage on one of the builders homes and then we pay it off with the salary we make from the builder. I already know how much we’d need to earn and how long we’d need to pay it off. That’s including using the husband’s income, tax returns, etc to pay off the house as soon as possible. We’re responsible with our money and have decent enough credit to obtain a VA home loan.

I’ll gladly post blogs about all the positive things a new home has to offer and our family is willing to create vlogs in the home to show others how much they need a new custom home.

Word of mouth and social media marketing are two of today’s biggest reasons things sell.

I wouldn’t just spend money on a home without doing my research first. I want to know what builder has what incentives to purchase with them, I want to know who has the better price, what each builder offers for upgrades, etc. I’d so my homework before putting money on something so important.

I’ve started that homework and have come up pretty empty handed as far as positive information.. Happy customers sell new homes. Positive reviews sell products (large and small).

I really hope to find a builder that is willing to work with our family to help promote their company. The housing market is on a rise as we speak, rates are still low, and new houses are being built daily. But it seems a lot of these homes are sitting empty, waiting for people to buy. That means companies are losing money on these houses or can’t build anymore until they sell some of the others they have built.

If you’re a home builder or a corporate sponsor, please feel free to email me at

Please check out our social media accounts:

Please note that I just created these social media accounts in hopes that someone would stumble upon them and help us in obtaining our dream home.

In today’s day and age, the first people go to get information is the internet (Google and YouTube are my go-to sites). I use Google to find written reviews of products and/or companies (there is nothing worse than bad customer service). I use YouTube to find out what people like and dislike about products, companies, etc. I want to know people’s honest thoughts and feelings on products. So I look for videos from the average American consumer.

Word of mouth and social media are two of the most widely use marketing techniques in 2015.

So we, the Delancey’s are willing to put our family out there for the world to see how we live our lives; while we promote your products.

Please help our family get into the home of our dreams.
