Road Blocks- Delancey Dream Home

It’s so hard to continually hit road blocks when you’re trying to fulfill a dream. Especially one that is as important as home ownership.

Because Kevin’s first house hasn’t sold yet, it’s been on the market for almost 8 months… we’re stuck in limbo. Which means we have to make some serious decisions.

We either have to give up on our dreams until the house sells and hope we can keep up with the mortgage payments for a house we can’t live in.

We remodel the house and try and sell it as a residential property (it’s currently listed as a commercial property). Which will obviously take us a while to afford the renovations and we’ll still have to keep up the mortgage. Which is where we’re going to have a slight problem. I don’t want to finance the rehab of the house on credit cards. Because we can’t afford the payments and interest on the credit cards if we do that.

Right now we’re talking to a contractor who is venturing out to the property to view the broken beam under the kitchen of Kevin’s 1st house. We have to make sure everything is structurally sound and all before we start renovations this summer. It’s going to be a fun and crazy time for renovations. The house has NO A/C! UGH! Looks like this could be a way for me to lose some of this excess weight, by working out in the heat and doing full house renovations.

We’ll see how things go after the contractor goes to the house. I wish we could be there, but we’re just not close enough to make the trip. But soon enough we’ll be close enough to do renovations on weekends and the kids and I can be there during the week and I can work on some things while Kevin is at work. But we’re going to have to take everything one day at a time.

I’m working with a cabinet company that sells cabinets at wholesale prices to the public. So we could get our entire kitchen cabinets for less than $2,000. I hope to be able to record all the happenings of the renovations so I can post them on YouTube, but we’ll see as time goes on.

We just have to remain positive that we will one day have our Delancey Dream Home.

I just wanted to post an update. I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
